Flowering dogwood : ウィキペディア英語版
Cornus florida

''Cornus florida'' (flowering dogwood) is a species of flowering plant in the family Cornaceae native to eastern and central North America, from southern Maine west to southern Ontario, Illinois, and eastern Kansas, and south as far as northern Florida and eastern Texas, with isolated populations in Nuevo León and Veracruz in northeastern Mexico.〔(Biota of North America Program 2014 county distribution map )〕 In Ontario, this tree species has been assessed and is now listed as endangered. The tree is very commonly planted as an ornamental in residential and public areas because of its showy flower bracts.
==Classification==
The flowering dogwood is usually included in the dogwood genus ''Cornus'' as ''Cornus florida'' L., although it is sometimes treated in a separate genus as ''Benthamidia florida'' (L.) Spach.
Two subspecies are generally recognized:
*''Cornus florida'' subsp. ''florida'' - eastern + south-central United States, southeastern Canada (Ontario).
*''Cornus florida'' subsp. ''urbiniana'' (Rose) Rickett - northeastern Mexico (Nuevo León, Veracruz).
